The Construction industry has widely adopted the Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS), which is a smart card scheme that requires workers to pass a minimum level of Health and Safety knowledge and hold a card relevant to their own skills level with trade competence requiring NVQ level 2 to support a skilled worker card.

Many contractors however, are facing the threat of unemployment due to them not having the correct card or indeed the NVQ to evidence their skills.
